A Rare Sighting

AP* (Memphis, TN) -- The unicorn showed its face twice this week -- once at the opportunity to express a viewpoint and once when called upon to fill a student's need.

The rare creature entered the classroom on Thursday following a short interlude in which students were encouraged to speak their minds without rebuttal. The mysterious being crept into sight, lingering for several minutes before dashing for cover.

Its reappearance on Friday coincided with the giving of school supplies. Apparently pleased with the opportunity to share and be of use to another, the unicorn pranced into clear view for just a few moments.

Ms. C-- said, "It's beautiful. I've seen it only once or twice, and every time is a treat." Sophomore ___ agreed. "It's amazing to see -- but you have to look fast because it doesn't hang around for long."

Some observers were encouraged that, with some coaxing, it may return frequently to the area; however, pessimists hold that it is simply foraging for a short stint and will soon disappear once more. The hope that it will settle permanently in the vicinty resonates in the school community, among both teachers and students. One teacher said, "It'd be great if it would stay. It would be a welcome addition to our school."
